Saba Rasheed Ali has been named associate provost for graduate and professional education and dean of the Graduate College at the University of Iowa, effective July 1. Ali, professor of counseling psychology and associate dean for research in the College of Education, will serve in the role until a permanent appointment is made.

UI pauses associate provost and Graduate College dean search

The University of Iowa is temporarily suspending its search for a new associate provost for graduate and professional education and dean of the Graduate College. Two finalists were invited for interviews in April, after which a candidate was offered the position but elected to pursue another opportunity.

A University of Iowa search committee has announced the second candidate for the next associate provost for graduate and professional education and dean of the Graduate College. Jennifer Blackhurst is associate dean for graduate and professional programs and the Leonard A. Hadley Chair in the Tippie College of Business. She is also a professor of business analytics. Blackhurst joined Iowa in 2014.

First candidate announced for next Graduate College dean

A University of Iowa search committee has announced the first candidate for the next associate provost for graduate and professional education and dean of the Graduate College. Jon C.D. Houtman is professor and vice chair of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the Carver College of Medicine and associate director for career enhancement at the UI Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. He is also the current director of the Human Immunology Core in the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. Houtman joined Iowa in 2005.

Amanda Haertling Thein named dean of University of Colorado Boulder School of Education

Amanda Haertling Thein, the University of Iowa’s associate provost for graduate and professional education and dean of the Graduate College, has accepted the position of dean at the University of Colorado Boulder School of Education. She will begin the position on July 1.
