Second candidate for the associate provost for graduate and professional education and dean of the Graduate College
Jennifer Blackhurst is associate dean for graduate and professional programs and the Leonard A. Hadley Chair in the Tippie College of Business. She is also a professor of business analytics. In her role as associate dean, she leads efforts to develop and innovate graduate and professional education programs in the Tippie College of Business with a focus on student success, including relevance, accessibility, and affordability. Her research is focused on the areas of supply chain risk and disruption management, supplier assessment and selection, and supply chain design and coordination. She is a senior editor for Journal of Business Logistics, and her work has appeared in multiple academic journals focused on production, operations, and supply chain management. Blackhurst received her B.A. and M.S. from Ohio University, followed by a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from the University of Iowa. She joined the faculty at Iowa in 2014.

Jon C.D. Houtman is professor and vice chair of the Department of Microbiology and Immunology in the Carver College of Medicine and associate director for career enhancement at the UI Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. Houtman is also the current director of the Human Immunology Core in the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. His research focuses on the role of the human immune system in disease pathology. Houtman received his B.A. from the University of Minnesota at Morris, followed by a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He was then a post-doctoral fellow at the National Cancer Institute at the National Institutes of Health before joining the University of Iowa faculty in 2005. Houtman was awarded the 2017 John P. Long Teaching Award in the Basic Sciences and the 2022 Collegiate Teaching Award from the Carver College of Medicine.
